What does the COVID-19 antibody test entail?
Our registered nurse draws a small sample of blood during a quick, 15-minute office appointment at Emerge Medical & Well Spa. You may feel slight discomfort from the shot during sample collection.
What if I’m showing symptoms of the coronavirus?
You should only take this test if you do NOT show symptoms of the coronavirus. We will take your temperature upon arrival, and if it is too high, you will not be allowed into Emerge Medical & Well Spa. You should contact your physician immediately.
Has the FDA authorized this antibody test?
Our antibody test, also known as a serology test, is done on FDA-authorized Abbott testing equipment.
How soon will I know the test results?
Results of the test typically take 48 hours to receive. This is not an instant test.
What do test results show?
A positive result for COVID-19 antibody test indicates you MAY have been exposed to the coronavirus at some time in the past. A positive test result also indicates you may have SOME immunity to the coronavirus, but you could still become reinfected with the coronavirus in the future. You should consult with your doctor about the best course of action moving forward.
What does this antibody test NOT do?
The antibody test does NOT diagnose COVID-19. Tests to diagnose the coronavirus should only be done by licensed medical professionals in a clinical treatment setting. Tests to diagnose COVID-19 typically involve a nasal or saliva swab to detect the virus’s antigens. Antigen tests may show results within minutes rather than days.

Antibodies are natural proteins produced by your body’s immune system to fight off infections and clear the virus out of your system. Your body produces antibodies on a regular and consistent basis as part of the normal function of your immune system.
