How to Make Your Eyelash Extensions Last Longer

Eyelash extensions are an awesome way to get the effortless beauty that everyone is searching for. While they can be pricey, eyelash extensions can save you lots of money on mascara and lots of time getting ready in the morning! Eyelash extensions typically last two or three weeks before you need a fill, but there are ways to help them last even longer! Read on to learn some tips for making your extensions last longer from the professionals at Emerge Medical & Well Spa in Tulsa.

Don’t Touch!

As hard as it is to resist, it is important to avoid touching your eyelash extensions. Even if they look out of place, it may be because your real eyelashes are shedding as they do naturally. Let your lashes come out naturally and move your extensions with a spoolie wand if necessary.

Detangle Regularly

To prevent your eyelashes from getting tangled, you should use your spoolie wand every morning to roll through your lashes, detangle them, and keep them defined. Do this by closing your eye and brushing your lashes from the top down the length.

Avoid Oil-Based Products

Oil-based makeup or moisturizers can weaken the glue on your lashes and cause them to fall off prematurely. Try swapping out your eye cream for a lightweight serum, and be sure you don’t get product too close to your lashes!

Be Careful With Eyeliner

This tip may be tough if you love eyeliner, but you should try to avoid it if you can! Removing eyeliner often requires a little bit of rubbing which can cause your extensions to fall out. If you must wear eyeliner, try removing it with a cotton swab and micellar water. You can also try to apply your liner slightly above the lash line!

Clean Them Regularly

After the first few days, start using a gentle foam cleanser on your extensions. This will help your lashes stick longer and clean off any leftover makeup residue! Avoid using cotton balls or cotton pads, as the fibers can get stuck in the glue. Try using a gentle cleansing cloth or even a makeup brush to clean the lash line and avoid pulling off your lashes.
