Microneedling is the process of causing microscopic, controlled injuries through tiny needle injection points that break up scar tissue and cause the skin to increase collagen production. When the skin is wounded, it naturally heals itself and during the healing process you have an increase in collagen which is able to fill in pits from scarring.
Through our minimally invasive microneedling approach, the skin’s repair process results in a thicker epidermis with a softer appearance of wrinkles. It also creates microchannels, which allow topical gels, creams, and serums to absorb into the skin more efficiently, enhancing the effects in the deeper layers of the skin.
Microneedling may help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, pores, acne scars, stretch marks, and traumatic scars; improve uneven skin tone and texture; promote hair growth; and reveal softer, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging.
Microneedling can be done on any area of the body. The sensation associated with it is similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating tip makes the treatment more comfortable. The procedure lasts approximately 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
Immediately following the treatment, you will notice a bright redness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the pen position and number of overlapping passes, but the average healing period is two to four days.
