Spring isn’t just a fresh start to a new season. It’s an opportunity to change your old routines and develop better ones. This can include your skincare regimen. In today’s blog, Emerge Tulsa offers six skincare tips for spring that will leave you feeling great and looking even better.
1) Exfoliate
Chances are good that your skin has taken a beating this winter. Between cold temperatures, wind, chemicals from road treatments, and dry indoor air, your skin will benefit from healthy exfoliation.
Exfoliation is a great way to rid the skin of contaminants and dead skin cells. It also acts as a natural brightener. We recommend using a strong yet gentle exfoliator on the entire body, paying close attention to rough patches like elbows, knees and knuckles. For the face, we recommend using Eminence Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant.
2) Hydrate
Our skin is the largest organ on our body. It needs to remain hydrated at all times to keep us moving. For external hydration, we recommend Eminence Rosehip and Lemongrass Soothing Hydrator. We also recommend giving yourself a little misting with our POMMIST Hydration Spray. This product not only introduces moisture onto the skin, but it’s also a refreshing way to wake up the skin and body.
To keep our skin hydrated internally, we suggest drinking eight or more glasses of water a day and eating a diet with lots of fruits and veggies. These naturally hydrate the skin, creating a glow that can only be derived from nature.
3) Sunscreen
The sun’s rays can be damaging to our skin – even on a cloudy day. The best way to protect our skin is using sunscreen and cover. Many of our products carry SPF protection, assuring you that what you put on your face isn’t just making you look and feel better, but offering defense against damage as well.
For broader coverage across the body, we recommend using a sunscreen of at least 30 SPF. This will keep U-V rays from penetrating the deeper layers of the skin and causing permanent damage.
When possible, always wear a hat with a wide brim and cover exposed skin.

4) Moisturize
Moisturizers are different from hydrators. Hydrators add water and even trap water in the skin. Dry skin lacks oil and needs to be moisturized. The needs are different, so the products are different. We carry Lilikoi Daily Defense Moisturizer. This is an all-in-one lightweight daily moisturizer formulated with cocoa seed extract, satsuma mandarin peel, and SPF 40 all-mineral protection to improve the appearance of skin exposed to blue light, stress, and pollution.
5) Clean or Replace Brushes
Older makeup brushes might look clean, but they may have collected grime and bacteria that you keep applying to your face. When you spring clean your house, spring clean your makeup brushes!
This can be done by mixing gentle liquid soap into warm water and swirling brushes in the water, gently massaging the soap into the bristles. Rinse thoroughly and let dry. Brush cleansers are also available at many retailers. If you feel your brushes have seen better days, consider getting new ones!
6) Antioxidants
Nutrients called antioxidants have been called ‘the fountain of youth’ by some skincare experts. Antioxidants scavenge free radicals, the culprits behind skin looking aged and wrinkled. Antioxidants are found in many of the foods we enjoy every day, like blueberries, papaya, broccoli, spinach, and avocados. These foods are also great when it comes to offering natural hydration. We like to think of it as a Buy 1, Get 1 Free offer for natural skincare.
