Emerge Tulsa Explains the 5 Best Ways to Prevent Sunburn

Emerge Tulsa Botox Prevent Sunburn

Summer is here! Sun worshippers are heading to the lake, pool, and beach to lay out and soak in the rays. In today’s blog from Emerge Tulsa, we discuss the five best ways to prevent sunburn.

1. Sunscreen

Water-resistant sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher does the trick when you’re at the beach, swimming, or spending a lot of time outdoors. Apply sunscreen at least 15 minutes before going outdoors, because it takes that long for your skin to absorb it. Apply at least 1 ounce to the exposed parts of your skin, including face, neck, ears, arms, legs, tops of your feet, and back, as much as possible. Reapply sunscreen after two hours for best results. Emerge Tulsa offers some fantastic products with SPF protection.

2. Clothing

Clothing offers a reliable way to keep sunburn away. If possible, wear long sleeves and long pants made of lightweight material in colors like white or beige. Consider clothing with UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) in the fabric. UPF of 50 or higher helps block up to 98% of the sun’s ultraviolet rays. The staff at Emerge Tulsa can recommend UPF clothing for you.

3. Stay Indoors

Think about staying indoors during the part of the day when the sun’s rays are most intense — from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s probably still going to be hot from 4 to 8 p.m., so you have plenty of time to get out and enjoy the warm weather without as much exposure to the sun.

4. Seek Shade

Stay in the shade whenever possible. This is particularly true for kids, who are more vulnerable to the heat. Set up your picnic next to a large tree. Lay out a hammock between two palm trees at your tropical destination. Watch animals at the zoo from the comfort of a covered awning. Take an umbrella with you to the golf course in between shots.

5. Little Things

Don’t forget the little things to protect you from sunburn! Lip balm with sunscreen is crucial to protecting your lips. UVA/UVB sunglasses are a must, but make sure they cover all of your eyes to prevent bright sunlight from reaching your pupils. You can even get sunburn on a cloudy day, so you can also try these tips from Emerge Tulsa when it’s cloudy outside.

Spa Facials: Cold Weather Skin Care Tips

Spa Facial Cold Weather Tips Emerge Tulsa

Spa facials help rejuvenate your skin and achieve a natural glow at any time of year. Keeping your skin looking great during the winter can be a challenge, even with a facial to bring back your skin’s health. Today’s blog from Emerge Medical & Well Spa, where we do many types of spa facials, discusses some cold weather skincare tips to keep you looking and feeling your best.

Moisturize

The air is dryer during winter months. You probably also take hot baths and showers because the air feels cooler, even if you turn the heat up in your home. Higher-temperature water dries out your skin more than cool water. When you combine hot showers with more handwashing to avoid spreading germs, you get the perfect recipe for dry skin. Take advantage of your favorite moisturizer to keep your skin soft and supple during the winter. The spa facial experts at Emerge Tulsa can recommend products for you.

Rely on Gentle Cleansers

Use gentle cleansers on your skin. Harsh products may strip moisture from your skin rather than preserve it. Cold weather means your skin needs all the help it can get! Do yourself a favor and use gentle products with natural ingredients or ones without fragrances. Spa facials can use gentle products on your skin to preserve its natural glow.

Lower Your Air and Water Temperature

Hot temperatures for your indoor air and shower water dry out your skin more compared to cooler temperatures. Keep your air temperature lower and bundle up with a sweatshirt or sweater. Take warm showers rather than hot showers. Some of our spa facial regimens can help your skin recover from dryness, although we recommend less exfoliating during cold weather.

Use a Humidifier

A humidifier can help your skin stay pliable in your home, whether you use a small model for a single room or invest in a whole-house humidifier. Humid air in the winter can also alleviate allergies or colds, in addition to being healthier for your skin! See how our spa facials can help relieve symptoms associated with dry air.

Eat Healthy

Much of your winter skincare routine comes from the outside, such as spa facials and gentle moisturizers. However, your skin’s health also comes from beneath the surface. Eat healthy foods that support your skin’s health, such as lean meats, nuts, and fish. Antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables also help keep your skin feeling great, including cranberries, blueberries, pumpkin, pomegranate, and squash.

The Benefits of Dermaplaning

You might have heard about dermaplaning, but maybe you don’t know exactly what it is and what it can do for your skin. Well, you’re in luck! In today’s blog, the professionals at Emerge Medical & Well Spa in Tulsa are going to explain what this beauty trend is all about and discuss the benefits of this exfoliating facial technique.

What Is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive facial peel that is used to gently exfoliate the skin. During this process, dead skin cells and peach fuzz are gently removed by gliding a scalpel across the surface of your skin. While this might sound scary, rest assured that this process doesn’t hurt one bit! Some people even claim it is quite soothing. When combined with a spa facial, this treatment can help you achieve maximum results.

Now that you understand what dermaplaning is, let’s talk about what it can do for you and your skin.

Removes Peach Fuzz

Dermaplaning is a great way to get rid of unwanted peach fuzz or excess facial hair. And the best part is that your hair won’t grow back thicker or faster like it might when you use a razor on your face.

Anti-Aging

Dermaplaning can help your skin look fresh and young by shaving off the top layer of dead skin. This will effectively reduce the look of wrinkles and lines, hyperpigmentation, and acne scars, leaving you with glowing, revitalized, and younger-looking skin!

Reduces Pores and Acne

Dermaplaning’s exfoliating properties effectively reduce the size of pores on your face, helping to deter build-up of oil and dirt. This will also help improve the effectiveness of your acne treatments!

Smoother Makeup Application

Last but not least, dermaplaning will leave your skin feeling clean and soft, allowing your makeup to glide onto your skin unbelievably smooth! Without the excess peach fuzz and dead skin cells, your makeup won’t get blotchy and you can say goodbye to uneven skin.

Dermaplaning Is Not for Everyone

While dermaplaning can give you great results, it’s important to note that it may not be for everyone. If you have sensitive skin, excessively oily skin, or are prone to breakouts, it’s best to consult with our professionals before having this treatment done.

Try Dermaplaning at Emerge Medical & Well Spa

If you think you’re a good candidate for dermaplaning and you’re ready to achieve smooth, bright skin, try dermaplaning at Emerge Medical and Well Spa in Tulsa! For maximum effectiveness, add this treatment to one of our spa facials like the Skin Medica facial or the Emerge Essential Cleansing facial. Self Care at Emerge Medical & Well Spa

Life can be stressful! In the mayhem of our busy lives, we often forget to pause and spend time on self-care. Though that phrase may sound frivolous in the face of deadlines at work or any other major pressing matter in your life, it is crucial. If you don’t spend time on self-care, eventually you’ll find yourself burnt out and unable to keep up with the things you need to stay on top of.

At Emerge Medical & Well Spa we are firm believers in taking time to take care of yourself. Here are some ideas for your next self-care day that will help keep you revitalized and healthy as you navigate the pressures of everyday life!

Get a Massage

This is probably the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of self-care and for a good reason too! There are few things in this world more relaxing and revitalizing than a good massage.

At Emerge Medical & Well Spa we offer a wide variety of massages that will help you get back to feeling good and ready to take on the world.

A deep tissue massage is always an excellent choice. The idea is to target deep in the muscles to alleviate chronic pain like a stiff neck, back, or shoulders. If you sit at a desk all day hunched over a computer (which most people do), then this is the perfect choice for you! Get rid of the stiffness so you can get back to feeling like yourself!

Get a Detox Foot Bath

We all need a good detox from time to time. It helps restore you to optimal health! At Emerge Medical & Well Space, we offer an array of wellness services, one of which is a fantastic Detox Foot Bath. All you have to do is sit back and put your feet in a basin full of warm water and let the Ion Detox Foot Bath extract toxins. The best part is that even after you’ve left Emerge Medical & Well Spa, your body will continue to detox for the next 48-72 hours.

Among the many benefits of a Detox Foot Bath are an improved immune system, increased energy levels, improved sleep, and so much more! Who doesn’t need more of those things?

Get a Facial

When you’re tired and stressed, your skin reflects that. A great way to give your skin some life is to indulge in a facial.

At Emerge Medical & Well Spa, our spa facials run between 45 and 50 minutes long. You’ll get to lay back and enjoy a face, neck, shoulder, and scalp massage as well as receive the benefits of skin analysis and deep pore cleansing.

You will leave your appointment glowing and looking refreshed as well as having gained more knowledge about what kind of beauty regimen will help nourish your skin!

Get a Shot of Vitamin B12

This method of self-care might not have been on your radar, but it should be. A Vitamin B12 shot is a wonderful, natural way to boost your energy, increase your metabolism, boost your mood, and keep your cardiovascular system functioning smoothly.
